Aloha!

It's just one little word but it can mean so much. And for author and teacher, Patricia McLean it means embracing life with love, kindness and joy. Whether chasing rainbows in Maui, or just enjoying rain in Vancouver, she delights in finding that spirit of Hawai'i wherever she is.

Patricia is a graduate of the M.F.A. program in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. She devotes part of her week to teaching English and Language Arts to primary students and part to her own writing. Her love of nature and history influences her stories, and her characters are based on the warm and wonderful keiki (children) and ohana (family) she has found in her tropical home.

When not turning young minds on to the joy of words, she can often be found under the nearest palm tree with her pen, cooking up some new coconut creation in the kitchen, or searching out an adventure for her Keala books. Wherever she is, there is bound to be plenty of aloha!

"It's like a canoe that floats in the sea,

is that where gecko wants to be?"
